Protein Gel & Imaging Analysis

1D SDS-PAGE Analysis

SDS-PAGE is the most common gel electrophoresis method used for the separation of proteins. It provides an easy method to estimate the molecular weight of proteins, assess the complexity of the sample or the purity of a preparation, and monitor the fractions obtained during chromatographic or other purification procedures.

Proteins on 1D gels are usually visualised with Coomassie dyes. Talk to us if you require alternative stains such SYPRO Ruby or Silver stain. For proteins intended for Mass Spectrometry analysis, stain the gels with Coomassie Brilliant Blue G-250.

2D Electrophoresis Analysis

2D electrophoresis (2-DE) is a powerful tool for the separation and fractionation of complex protein mixtures. 2-DE first involves separation by charge using a method called isoelectric focusing (IEF). Focused proteins are then resolved in the second dimension using SDS-PAGE. MS3 provides both 11 cm and 18 cm gel formats. Contact us to discus your 2-DE requirements.

Western Blot Analysis

Western blot is a commonly used method for qualitative and semi-quantitative protein analysis. In this method, proteins are separated by 1D SDS-PAGE and transferred to a carrier membrane.  Antibodies specific to the protein of interest are then used to probe the membrane and any bound antibodies are detected using chemical or fluorescent visualisation.

Image Analysis

Using a high-resolution scanner, gel images can be converted into digital data and analysed using computer software. Based on professional knowledge and experienced staff, MS3 Solutions provides a wide range of protein gel and imaging analysis services in a time-saving and cost-efficient manner. If you have any questions or specific requirements, please feel free to contact us.
